The Rose Bowl

More about this piece

Cast Bronze

The Rose Bowl was unveiled by President Mary McAleese on 1st December 2006, World Aids Day.
Commissioned by the Rose Project the sculpture represents the
life of Rose Atieno who died of aids in 2003 in Kenya. Rose was the 16 millionth person to die of aids in Sub-Saharan Africa. The principle aim of the Rose Project is to fund the delivery of quality medical, nursing and psycho-social care to people living with HIV and AIDS and their families.
The Rose Project in Kenya is partnered with the Clinton Foundation. My thanks to Mary Donohoe for giving me the opportunity to support the Rose Project and to B2 Private for sponsoring the casting costs of the Rose Bowl.
